Later, he studied drama at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Ovenden has made multiple appearances in London West End musical productions and in concert, both in the U.S. and UK. In 2012, Ovenden originated the role of J.M. Barrie in the musical adaptation of the film "Finding Neverland". He also appeared in concert at Carnegie Hall in New York, and in the 2010 and 2012 BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, singing the music of the great American musicals.
