Sarah Shahi plays Sameen Shaw.
Aahoo Jahansouz "Sarah" Shahi (born January 10, 1980) is an American actress and a former NFL cheerleader. Born in Texas, her father is Iranian and her mother is from Spain. She has two siblings, an older brother and a younger sister. Her father's family left Iran before the fall of the Shah. Shahi adopted the name Sarah as a child.
Shahi attended Southern Methodist University as an English and theater major before joining the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad for the 1999-2000 football season. A meeting with director Robert Altman lead to her decision to move to Hollywood.
Shahi is previously known for playing the role of Kate Reed in the USA network legal drama Fairly Legal. She was also noted for her earlier work in supporting roles both in The L Word, and Life.
Shahi took a leave of absence from the show after becoming pregnant with twins. The babies, Violet Moon and Knox Blue were born on March 1, 2015. Shahi claimed the maternity leave could last up to two years to give her time to recover, but after CBS truncated and delayed the show's fifth season, she agreed to return earlier than expected in case of impending cancellation. Greg Plageman commented on her return that "you will see her very early in the season, and once you see her, she will always be on the show for the remainder of the show." Shahi appeared in ten of the final thirteen episodes.
