The Original Seven[]
Before its completion, seven people were aware of the Machine's existence and took part in different facets of its development. The identities of five of them are known:
As Ingram was unable to complete the Machine after Denton Weeks had commissioned it, he brought Finch on board, whose involvement was, at the time, known only to Ingram.
Team Machine[]

- Lionel Fusco: learned about the Machine from Reese. (“Sotto Voce”)

- Jason Greenfield: learned about the Machine during their involvement with Root. (“A House Divided”)
- Daizo: learned about the Machine during their involvement with Root. (“A House Divided”)
- Harper Rose: assisted Reese, Shaw and Fusco on their POI. (“Synecdoche”)
- Joey Durban: assisted Reese, Shaw and Fusco on their POI. (“Synecdoche”)
- Logan Pierce: assisted Reese, Shaw and Fusco on their POI. (“Synecdoche”)
The Government[]
- Henry Peck: speculated the Machine had been built, suspicions confirmed by Finch. (“No Good Deed”).
- Daniel Aquino: built the Machine's housing and had some knowledge of it. (“Relevance”)
- Lawrence Szilard: oversaw construction of the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. (“God Mode”)
- Hersh: learned about the machine after assuming Special Counsel's role. (“God Mode”)
- The caretaker: it remains unknown whether he knew what he was guarding. (“God Mode”)
- Ross Garrison: provided legislative aid after the Machine's development. (“Deus Ex Machina”)
- Manuel Rivera: intelligence adviser to the President of the United States. (“A House Divided”)
- Kyle Holcombe: director of the NSA. (“A House Divided”)
Samaritan[]
- John Greer: learned about the Machine at an unknown time. (“Allegiance”)
- Jeremy Lambert: speaks directly to the Machine in “The Cold War”.
- Martine Rousseau: discusses the Machine with Greer and Lambert. (“The Cold War”)
- Gabriel Hayward: Samaritan's interface talks about the Machine with Root. (“The Cold War”)
Vigilance[]
- Peter Collier: his conversation with Finch indicates he knows about the Machine. (“Most Likely To...”)
- Vigilance members, 12 jurors, reporters and a defense attorney learn about the Machine from Finch.
None survive the courthouse explosion. Vigilance members are killed by Samaritan operatives. (“Deus Ex Machina”)
